You said that it's a USB scanner, but the message is asking if you want to
test the parallel port. Is there any chance that by default, the scanner
tells the operating system that it installed to a parallel port and that
this has to be disabled somewhere in the scanner configuration? About all I
can do is suggest that you take a look into the device's configuration
settings to see if there's something that might need switched off. I can't
quite imagine a device that would connect via USB also telling the system
that it's using a parallel port, but you never know.

Subject: [jaws-users] a different sys tray problem

With all the discussion of the sys tray, I have a different problem. I have
"scanner not responding" in the system tray. My scanner is working just
fine. It's plugged into a USP port. It has been this way since I got the
computer. At any rate, when i left click on the "scanner not responding" i
get two choices, "test parallel port" and "more about hpppt". Is there any
way to get this out of the tray? Or, maybe I should say any easy way?
Thanks, karen
