Rich, here are some possibilities:  if you have not done so, install windows 
service pac 2.  Install any other critical updates you have not installed. 
I have found that, occasionally, I have to disable pop up blocker uner the 
tools menu in order to get a web site to open.  You can check "temporarily 
disable pop up blocker" and try it.  Of course, you want to return and put 
pop up blocker back on.  If you find some sites that windows or your dsl 
provider think are pop ups, go down the pop up blocker list to "settings" 
where you can add sites that you want to be able to use in the future and 
your provider will not block them.  Hope this helps.  I'm sure others will 
have some better ideas but I wanted to share some things that have helped
