That's a great summary, Larry. And another possibility--play around a little 
with the pixel dimensions for characters in the Configuration Manager's 
Cursor Options for Word. Whatever you do, _be sure_ to record the original 
values so that you can return to them in case things only get worse, but 
I've found that some judicious alteration of, particularly, the Vertical 
Caret Dimensions height value (which defaults to 90) can make for some very 
interesting results. Try reducing this value to 19 for some hard-to-read 
documents. When you try to save the settings, you'll receive an error 
message about some value being either larger or smaller than some other 
one--just ignore this message and save the settings, anyway.

First make certain the "Office Assistant" is turned off by pressing
CTRL+INSERT+F4.

Configure the menus and toolbars of Word XP:
