Tom Scales, Debbie's husband, had closed the site yesterday within a very short time of her death. However, Tom was deluged with demands from insensitive, selfish, stupid people who demanded that the site be re-opened immediately and he has done so, although it will not be maintained or updated. I think that every single person who wrote to Tom on the day of his wife's death in order to make their selfish demands should have their names published (but they won't be, of course) and should be shunned by every decent-thinking person who remembers Debbie and how completely _unselfish_ she was, even continuing to help others long after her health demanded that she do nothing but rest. There are days I'm ashamed to be known to belong to the same group of people as some blind persons and today is one of those times. I knew Debbie for many years, had participated in lists with her, had engaged in hundreds of private e-mail discussions with her, had laughed and cried and worried with her and while I know that she would completely understand the actions of these relatively few people, I can't help but be angry and ashamed.
