If you go to the connections tab in o e there is and tab to change and 
enter, there are some connection things you can change.

Do not do this! This is not what he's asking. He wants the option and this
will cause it to happen every time after the messages come in it will
disconnect. He is asking about having the option in case he wants to go to a
different program after exiting Outlook Express.

One way to do it is to alt F in Outlook Express and alt W to disconnect.
Still not what he is asking, but it is a work around.
