Marilyn,

I tried version 5.6x of Check Printer back in April when I was
trying out different checkbook programs. I did not try to print any
checks with it, but only worked a bit with the register. I may be
missing something, but it seemed that there was no facility for
deposits with it. My memory may be faulty, but I think there was also
no way of making online payments and having them reflected in the
balance. I think the demo I tried was the one for the home version
since I wasn't using the business size checks.

When I looked at the site in April, the program was up to version
5.7 and maybe they have added some features like being able to handle
deposits. I'd also like to have a way of keeping track of categories,
which my memory is that the version of Check Printer I tried didn't
do. Maybe the business one does. Someone on one of the lists said it
printed checks properly 90% of the time for time and that the other
10% of the time messed them up. Maybe this has also been improved
with the later versions.

I also tried Just Write Checks last spring, but I can't remember
now what it was about it that I didn't like.

Thanks for reminding me about Check Printer. Any other
suggestions would be welcomed.

Margaret

Margaret, you might want to take a look at this software. Read
the entire
page as the home and pro editions are discussed down the page. It is
sort
of freeware but the creator asks for $7. to support his site. This
not only
keeps your register automatically but prints out on your own bank
checks. I
have not used it so can't recommend it, but someone on another list
did
recommend it. I looked at the one you mention but it was in ms word
and
hard to manage for the reasons you cited. Let us know how you do with
this.
