Have you actually hit enter on the message itself and checked if there is an 
attachment?

I say this because sometimes my OE will do the same, but only because I have 
my display set to display in plain text only, so any gif, jpg or web icons 
are sent through as attachments.  I also have my ISP web mail forwarded 
without images, in other words, they are blocked before they hit my inbox in 
order to protect me from spammers.

Have you checked your web mail to see if it's the same case with your 
e-mails there?
