In order to use any 'java' environments you will probably need to have the java
access bridge downloaded too. I am currently having problems with the one java
based program that I use regularly, but I think that is because I upgraded the
access bridge . So what is java? Java is a environment that runs on top of
other windows operating systems and provides common functionality no matter if
it is a Unix, PC, Amiga ...

In order to do this, Java uses its own menus and controls . With a program
that was designed using appropriately new java code, the access bridge will
link Jaws into the java environment translating the native java keyboard and
mouse and display information into a style that accessibility programs like
ZoomText , Jaws, Windows Eyes should understand.

Installing java will not break jaws , but there is a good chance that unless
the person that developed the Java code tested it with Jaws that it will not
work.

One other thing to know... The JRE comes in several versions from 1.1 to
1.5.1 last I checked. Some java code will only work well with one specific JRE
so my work computer currently has 3 or more JRE's installed on it.

Subject: [jaws-users] Jfw and Java run time environed

Hi all, as you may recall I recently wrote in regarding distance learning
programs and jfw. I have got brave enough to try a demo of the software which
is related to the distance learning program, but before I run it I am required
to do a browser tune up and when I did that I got a message indicated I needed
to install the java run time environment or something like that Was wondering
if any one might have a clue if that might be harmful to jaws.
