Well, PDAs don't exactly do recognition of hand writing. If you want the PDA to recognize what you write, you have to print, not use cursive, and typically you have to use a set of symbols that aren't exactly all print letters. Like an a is an up-side-down V, essentially a capital A without the cross bar. I believe that is still the case on most PDAs.
Many PDAs also have a mode where you can scribble whatever you want, but it doesn't quote recognize quote what you write, it just stores the image. Lastly, there most definitely is software out there that recognizes hand writing. Trust me, the U.S. Post Office isn't sorting all those letters by hand. Sure, a lot of mail, especially junk mail has computer generated address printing, but a lot of people still hand address snail mail. OK, having said that, I believe that software is pretty sophisticated and also pretty limited. It's primary goal is to get the zip code. Secondly, it is probably tuned pretty well to search out the two letter state abbreviations so it probably wouldn't be very good for reading a hand written full page. -- Blue skies.
