Smart Tags are recognized words that provide relevant information (in office programs and the web). I don't think they were as widely implemented as Microsoft had hoped they would be. But the intent was to make it so you could set up smart tags for certain words which would then do other actions, such as link to other things, give a list of options, provide additional information, and so on. Yes but sometimes Jaws will stay indicate smart tags even if you turn it off in the verbosity dialog. But since we are talking about using jaws with smart tags, I thought I would post a few keystrokes you can use with smart tags (from the jaws help system). ALT+INSERT+SHIFT+S. This will open the Smart Tags dialog, which lists all the Smart Tags in your document. If there are no Smart Tags in your document, JAWS announces that there are no Smart Tags. Next, press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to move through the list and press ENTER on the Smart Tag item. This will take you to the information tagged in the document. Now press ALT+CTRL+INSERT+S to bring up a context menu, which offers you item specific choices. To exit this dialog and return to your place in the document, press ESC. ----- Original Message ----- From: Annette Carr To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 20, 2006 6:44 PM Subject: RE: [jaws-users] smart tag What is the purpose of smart tags? This is in Word 2003: 1. Go to Tools>Options>View and locate Smart Tags and use the SPACEBAR to uncheck it. 2. While in the main Word dialog, press JAWS Key+V, locate Smart Tags, and again, press the SPACEBAR to turn it off. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 20, 2006 4:34 PM Subject: Re: [jaws-users] smart tag Hello. that can be found in tools/auto correct andyou control+tab to the smart tags option and emove the smart tag ineications. ----- Original Message ----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 20, 2006 1:30 PM Subject: [jaws-users] smart tag Good afternoon List, If this question has been answered before I apologize for taking up time and space.
