Anthony,

I think that Victor is on the right track with suggesting that you make
changes to the Page Set Up. Are you going to be printing on a stack of
index cards or just one per session? See if these directions help you out
to get the job done.

Changing the Paper Size to Print on Index Cards
. Open a new document
. Open the File Menu and select Page Set Up
. Move to the Paper tab
. Tab to Paper size and use your arrow keys to move to Custom. I
think this is at the bottom of the list.
. Tab to the Width edit box and type in the width of the index card,
example 5.
. Tab to the Height edit box and type in the height of the index card.
. Move to the Margins Tab and set them. If you don't do this, then
you will not have much room to write on the index card, as the default
margins are set at 1 inch or greater.
. When you are done with the margins, tab to OK.
. Now you can type in the information you want on the index card.
. If you are going to be using this configuration again, you might
want to save a blank copy of the file before you type anything into it.
This way all you have to do next time is open the blank file, do a Save As
to give your working file a new name, and then start typing in your
information.
. When you are ready to print your index cards, you will need to
decide how you will be feeding the cards into the printer, portrait or
landscape. Portrait is the default setting, meaning that the smaller edge
of the paper goes into the printer first. Landscape means that the longer
side of the page goes into the printer first. You may need to play around
with this a bit to ensure that the text on your printed cards is going in
the correct direction.
. Remember that printer settings that you change will only stay set
for this session. So next time you open your blank index card file, you
will once again have to change the printer settings.

HTH,
Annette

I want to do individual cards. I figure that if anyone knows, it'll be you.

Any ideas? I could go to the labels option, but I can't figure out how to
create a custom label that is 3x5. Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to print on individual index cards, or the Avery sheets of
index cards. If it is the Avery sheets, then you just need to treat them
like a label and select the correct label number and the rest should fall
into place.

Hi Anthony,

Have you tried going through the page set-up in the file menu?
I'd imagine you can specify the size of the paper you are using there?

Otherwise, you can probably use another program like the card reader with
the Windows Address Book, or maybe using Microsoft Access to create a
database file, then putting it on index cards, which I think is one of the
options in there.
