hey Bill,
Some times when I open up a file Jaws says blank, but I go to the menu bar
Alt v and check normal.

  Subject: [jaws-users] word 2003 problem

  Hi List,

I have a perplexing problem: I had a file in my documents, it was saved
there. I tried to copy it into a Word 2003 file. The name of the file now
appears, but when I enter it I can read nothing. It's as if it were empty. I
wonder if perhaps I saved it using some other type of text that Jaws won't
read. I don't know how to find out, or if there is a way I can change it to
where I can read it. I would hate it if the file is gone for good. I don't have
anyone around who can tell me if there's anything on the screen or not. Maybe I
can find that out later, but I'm hoping maybe someone out there can help me.
