If these are basic Windows XP updates, the answer is possibly yes. Are these 
coming from Microsoft or from SUN? Generally speaking, you really don't need 
to have any special JAVA code installed over and above what the normal 
Windows installation provides unless you're developing programs that use 
JAVA. You might need to check your Add and Remove Programs list to see if 
you've perhaps installed something you really don't need.
