Yes Microsoft has sent out IE7.0 as an update, last week.

I have no idea. Follow the earlier suggestion for verifying what the update 
is and then you can opt to either install it or discard it. Did you get 
those instructions? I don't think that Microsoft has sent out IE 7 as an 
automatic update yet and even if they have, they said that if someone 
accidentally starts to install it and doesn't really want to do so, they'll 
be given the opportunity to cancel out before the installation actually 
begins..
