I suggest it was rather assumed that 128 automatic numeric output elements would be enough for anyone to be honest. The way around it would probably be generate the LIST statement directly or why not use a macro (M-type which you can regenerate if you change the default element count). However, perhaps you can rethink the way you are generating the listing.
