We run jBASE 3.4 on Windows 2003 servers....
I'm working on the possibility of gaining hardware resilience by having multiple jBASE servers sharing a common data store (a SAN). The idea is that loads would be balanced between servers by spreading users across them, but with them updating common data. My guess is that this is not possible, as record updates still in memory on one server would not be available on the other servers.... Are there any alternative configurations that could be considered? I'm working on this for the purposes of gaining large numbers of users (1000+) with full 24x7 resilience - our application is not telnet based but relies on web service style transactions (using dotnet remoting) - so I'm actually working on building an architecture not unlike a web server farm - where they all share a common external IP address - so that if a single server fails, the others would take up the load... Anybody any thoughts on how I might achieve my aims ?
