Hello, I have a question about the jrf -B <filename> resize option. What is the purpose of this option?
The reason I ask is I'm used to working with Universe and something that we do during our normal maintenance there is to do Resizes periodically that keep the same modulo/type/separation. We've found on files that have lots of writes and deletes to them (data turns over frequently) benefit greatly from this. We've seen up to a 300% improvement at times in performance from this. As far as what this does on universe, the best I've been able to come up with is that it somehow defragments the file on disk (but I could be wrong). Either way the benefits are very quantifiable. Both this jbase database and that Universe database are on a San (yes i know this is bad, don't need a rant about it because I've given many myself :)) I'm curious if the jrf -B option would have the same benefit within jbase. Will it actually do a rebuild of the file to disk? Or will JBASE do nothing if it thinks nothing has changed?
