It is related to RDBMS.

If this variable is set (non zero) jBASE will use its internal transaction
cache even for external drivers (RDBMS) that support their own
transactions.

Also if bit 2 in the value of this variable is 1, the before image will also
collected, otherwise the before image is skipped if the database supports
its own transaction.
