The 'new' 'Phantom' instantiation can be problematic for extremely 'short lived' 'Phantom' processes The 'JBASE_DIASABLE_NEW_PHANTOM' environment variable is provided, to revert to the original method of instantiating Phantom processes, for users who experience problems with the 'new' ( default ) mechanism The 'JBASE_DISABLE_NEW_PHANTOM' environment variable should only be set for users experiencing problems starting Phantom processes, and should only be set under the advice of Temenos Help Desk [ 99.99% of the time it is NOT required to set this environment variable ] This environment variable has no bearing on 'defunct processes' Pat.
