Theo - The MV date on all platforms is useless for most
applications going back prior to 1800, and it's even invalid in
some countries for dates as recent as the 1920's. Anything prior
to 1600 is certain to be off by several days. This is related to
changes to, and adoption of the Gregorian calendar. If you have
a real application that requires using a date that far back in
time, I recommend using OS-based tools specifically designed for
this. Some years ago I considered an open source collaborative
project at PickWiki.com where we could create a routine that
returns accurate dates for Pick-based museum applications. The
demand for such was so small that it wasn't worth it to get the
project started. These days I'm sure code for this could be
found, or you might even find a web service.
