Before doing anything else, make an OS level copy of the corrupted file so you can try to figure out what went wrong. You can then copy DEVCONFIG*n and DEVFORMQUEUE*xxx entries (at the Jbase level) from your backup copy back to jspool_log and restart those printers. Keep in mind that print jobs stored in a print queue in the backup copy may not match what exists when you restore the definitions. I run a resync program to get the jobs back in line.

I've rewritten and front-ended most of the spooler functions, so I have a lot more power available than a standard Jbase system. I am running version 3.4.7 on XP, but most things apply to Windows and *nix with at most minor tweaks. I'd be happy to share, but it will be after the first of the year before I will get time.

Sounds great! If I backup my log file then how do I restore in then
event I need to in the future?

Thanks.

If you make regular copies of your jspool_log file it will be much easier to rebuild your queues if this ever happens again.
