I have joined the "Ipad" generation now, and have an app called Splashtop which allows me to run my desktop applications remotely from my Ipad. Of course my legacy stuff does not work too good with the virtual keyboard, but if one had an external keyboard, it would be perfect. This app gives you complete control over your PC, including shutting it down. But , of course, you can't start it up again , so make sure you are finished with your day's work.
