Doug,

There are so many variables to be considered that relate to your particular
installation and how you use your jBase database. Windows Server 2012 is
equivalent at a very low level (think kernel) to Windows 8. With that
comes a steep learning curve to me. As for any of the Microsoft Server
class products there are benefits to using them in a multi-user
environment. There is security to consider and performance of background
tasks of which the jBase services fall into.

Have you been running for a long time on Windows 7 and the current
configuration? Has it worked well for you? Is your server (current system
that has jBase even though it is Win 7) or the workstations that connect to
in connected to the internet? Is the data critical to your business. I
would respond mainly that this is a question of how valuable the
information in jBase is to your business. If it has significant value then
I would recommend the server route but that includes purchasing server
class hardware with redundant disks and a more sophisticated design.

I could go on but I think that covers the basics.

Dick
