Kevin pointed out the problem  - READ DRLREC FROM D29, DRLID ELSE DRLID = 
'' <-- change to ELSE DRLREC = ''
I repeated DRLID instead of DRLREC.  That change made it work the way that 
Daniel intended as he wrote it.
