So. here is the comparison of connecting through TWS and IBGateway, and it changed from the last time I looked at it. As it reads now, there is no difference in functionality, except that IBGateway is GUI- less: http://interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=programInterface&p=c&ib_entity=llc#access
So, yes, if IBGateway works well with JBT, it's certainly a better option than running TWS with either TWSStart or IBController.
