1. JSystemTrader is how it all started and is the mother of the other three platforms. However, JSystemTrader's development stopped years ago, so it's pretty much abandoned. What distinguishes JSystemTrader from the rest is the nature of the market data, which is high-low-open-close price bars.
2. JBookTrader is the most active among the four. The market data is represented by the 1-second snapshots of the exchange limit order book. 3. JBookTrader-fg is a development branch of JBookTrader meant for experimental features, such as database support, multi-broker support, command line support, multi-purpose reporting, portfolio management, etc. At some point, there where a lot of activities in that branch, but the effort did not persist. 4.
