A while back, someone did post an MBean that would convert logging in 
JBoss to use log4j.  I've used it without problems now for a while.  
Search the archives of jboss-user and jboss-dev and I think you'll find 
a link to a zipfile somewhere ...

As a side note, you can configure your JBoss logging in jboss.conf to 
turn off "Information" messages and you should be home free as far as 
limiting your output goes.
