What's about the model which Resin uses?
I can also imagin that jBoss creates a finished bundeled
jBoss ready to use out of the Box with maybe additional
docu (for linux as RPM already tailored for automatic
startup in "init.d") or InstallAnywhere.
Therefore the hackers and coders can still use jBoss for
free but you can gain from the ease of use (as M$ and
SuSE does already).
BTW SuSE already makes money from bundeling open source
code and pack them together.
