so I went out and bought moi-self a 1.4 ghz AMD cause it came out 2 weeks
ago and I read the 1.2 (yes 1.*2*) ghz kicked 1.7 intel's butt so I really
wanted to get my hands on it :)
upgraded an old box sitting here... also bought a new 19"...
half a gig RAM, speedtouch dsl, routing to all my subnetwork and the 1.4
ghz... jboss starts in 3 seconds :)
also I am writing because I am TRULY impressed by how far Linux has come. I
must say I was going to install windows on my DESKTOP (I do windows on
desktop and linux on servers) but for various reasons (the most important
one being that I needed to route my fucking DSL to all my PCs, including my
wife's who is helping with teh business of JBOSS) so I went ahead and
relunctantly installed Linux. It was easy, even the DSL config was
relatively painless (with IP_MASQ and all, guess I got lucky)
I am truly impressed, I got my enlightenment stuff with 6 windows (getting
really stable), mozilla (same, getting really stable), anyJ my java IDE
running like it did on my windows box and all, it is really impressive how
much Linux has matured... great to see...
My point is that I gave up on Linux desktop and almost against my will I am
now TRULY impressed with the quality of the software I am working with, also
the slickness of the look and the features. Open Source is for real, it
takes time and money (like everything else it seems is the lesson we must
draw) but it does produce amazingly superior software.
It was a comforting experience for me.
and just wanted to brag about my latest AMD chip LOL
