Category: JBossMQ
Group: v2.4 BETA (stable)
Status: Open
Resolution: None
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Christian Riege (lqd)
Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody)
Summary: no more deadlock under heavy load

Initial Comment:
hi everybody,

inspired by Jason Dillon's mail to jboss-dev (see
http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/SourceForge/10766/0/6353680/)
i patched the JBossMQ-2.4 branch to leave the thread
pool size at default settings (unlimited threads) vs.
the old hard-coded 25 threads. i've also "backported"
the change from head exchanging "waitWhenBlocked()" by
"runWhenBlocked()".

from a couple of test-runs these 2 changes solve my
problem of jbossmq locking up under "heavy" load (i
don't think that 40msgs in a queue at a time are heavy
load, but ...).

has been tested on Win2K/JDK 1.3.0_02 only, haven't
tried on UNIX (Linux) yet.
