|marc,

|I'm just worried that we're duplicating work here. Sacha and I have

no we are not you are doing the work :)

|implemented RMI replication/fail-over. The stuff we have done can
|replicate
|any RMI object.

Great I can't wait to reuse it.

|replication features. BTW, this RMI replication stuff is working in CVS,
|although Sacha and I think we may have a few JavaGroups issues to resolve.

RMI "replication", do you mean redundant invokers to target nodes or "state"
replication as in HTTPSession state replication? The main point of my
previous mail was to show the independence (alleged) of these two layers...
yes?

|Duh! I was thinking we could move the HAPartition idea into the
|non-clustered realm and think of a Partition as a POA, but I like this much
|better.

You lost me there o2k, I am just talking of redundants message creator ports
on the nodes, if an address is in use the new proxies are shipped with new
adresses.

That being said, I am not sure I ever heard the "one socket won't scale"
experiments and I am curious to hear the short version.

|Marc, I think Sacha and I already have the abstraction you're
|talking about
|with HAPartition and our replicated RMI objects. Am I missing something
|else?

yes I know... you already did the work and I insist that my refactoring is
just candy on the top with the JMX detaching done clearly...

don't worry about it for now, slowly re-read the mail sacha sent privately
...

|I hear some music..."Under pressure. Dom dom dom didda dee doo." :)

No. The beat is slightly more military can't mess with that!

Soldier, "the finest steel has to go through the hottest fire" if you can't
peform under pressure you're no good, you see? I intend to grill you when
you go up to talk at the chalkboard, also bear in mind that we are doing a
show, people who come to the training want to hear ideas and see how we
work. The "guest talks" in London's training were very succesful thanks to
Werner, Nicolai, Sacha and Julian.

Enough military talk, this attack on america is getting to me, my house has
a big US flag floating and I feel like my "spaceship" (read my house) is
already organized as a military stronghold. You should see my office/living
room, the large kitchen with windows and the barracks where we sleep. It is
extremelly comfortable, functional and ... spacy, it's got that "flying
saucer" feeling.

Great cold ahead, got to keep the fire burning...

regards,

marcf
