There is already an ejb exposing the mbean server, thus providing security, and a project to create a servlet based viewer. Exposing something via jboss.net seems like a good idea also.
Are you interested in working with the guys on the improved viewer? I think the discussion is on the jmx forum. In regards to your wish for more info in the mbean viewer, there is already an xdoclet task to create xmbean descriptors including lots if info about the mbean from the markup, and I even made it so xmbeans can be deployed from *-service.xml. The remaining step here is to convert all the mbeans to be xmbeans. I haven't had time to look recently, but the last time I looked the xmbean implementation was not complete enough.
