Summary: Invalid MessageSelector doen not throw JMSException
Initial Comment:
When a publisher is setting an application specific
message property, the correctness is not checked. For
example, if the publisher sets a message property with
a '-'(hyphen) in it, it doesn't throw JMSException.
When a subscriber is used a message selector with this
property, it doesn't throw JMSException. But it is
specified in the javadoc of Message as follows:
"A method providing a syntactically incorrect
selector must result in a JMSException."

This is not a bug, the selector is syntactically correct, e.g.
x-y=4
is a valid selector
provided x and y are numeric properties.
We don't test types until "runtime", so obviously wrong
selectors like
x-y="hello"
doesn't throw an exception.
I'm leaving this bug report open as a reminder that more
type checking can/should be done at subscription time.
Regards,
Adrian
