We took a lot of pictures and we will try to put more detailed accounts
online.

It was a truly great J1, at least from the "booth" standpoint, 'cause all I
did was booth duty (hey somebody has got to keep the shop running while the
puppies run around). It was great for me to sit there and get to see all
the people I knew and all the type of folks interested in jboss.

First I must say that we were very proud that on the very first day of the
show, Vlada Matena (the original writter of the spec) came by and talked to
us about jboss and telkel. It was cool, very proud.

Then I think we must have seen most of Weblogic come by LOL just so they
could touch our favorite aliens, Rickard and Norbert, that were running
around talking about cache management and database synchronization most of
the show... Of course me, all I did was booth duty :) alotofsmiling and
alotofhandshaking :)=m.

Then analysts came by, one said "all the analysts are watching you, you are
the fastest growing application server today"... hee hee of course it was
the occasion for me to blabber on about "project Game Over" (yes mail
coming) and how great jboss was and jboss2.0 like linux 2.0 (my favorite
line) and blah blah blah the GPL blah blah blah and so on and so forth....

The presentation with RMH was pretty cool, except that I had forgotten my
VAIO plugin so we couldn't display the slide :( so we asked the audience to
imagine the EJX GUI and that it worked flawlessly :). We managed to not
fight among ourselves which in itself was something and actually had a good
"let's get together, get drunk, tell lies about our code and complain about
open source" with Gerard Vandome and RMH, both of whom I had never met
personally but are both truly great folks. Thanks again to RMH for inviting
us, that was cool.

Now for the most juicy parts.... it really got us to realize how much jboss
was known in the industry and really sort of "everywhere" in the java open
source field. We are the open sourcish J2EE open source group (if that
makes sense ;-) and it got us an occasion to run around and do the "let's
integrate" thing 'cause people wanted to talk to us... maybe we are sitting
on something :) so some exciting news are coming your way as soon as we can
announce these partnerships and integrations, but really.. some exciting
news.. As I already mentioned in a separate mail we did the JMX expert
thing and that in itself is great value.

I am sure I am forgetting alot of stuff so guys feel free to add to this
brief report.

OK, we will put the pictures on the web site pretty soon, we looked really
good you know ;-) I really want to see the one with the VP of Engineering
from WebLogic (George, show us the money man or you are going on line;-).

kind regards

marc
