Hi!

Well, there are a couple of different stories here depending on who you
talk to.
Here's mine :-)
First of all, Jorgen is quite correct, and this is what I've been told
from Sun as well, specifically Bill Roth who is the J2EE Group Product
Manager (i.e. The Man).
However. I have also talked (@J1) to the J2EE product manager, the JMX
team and the Jini engineering team, and they all say the same thing:
"wait a couple of months and this will not be a problem. We are fixing
this situation right now".
I quote (or at least the gist of it).
J2EE PM: "[Fixing the licenses] will be one of my first tasks when I
begin my job [in a couple of weeks]"
JMX Spec lead: "jmx.jar will be free for any use once the spec is done"
Jini engineering lead: "Jini binaries will be free to use for any
Commercial Licensee, and we working on removing the license fee for
OpenSource projects"
And to round this off, Anne Thomas who is currently Business Strategist
at Sun and most definitely a VIP in these circles, absolutely loves us.
(The picture of her holding a jBoss t-shirt should be on the site
shortly ;-). Not to mention the EJB folks, both the present spec leads
(Linda+Umit), the former spec leads (Vlada+Mark), and EJB Product
Manager (Ann Betser), who were *very* happy about what we do.
So, while Jorgen *is* technically correct, I don't exactly have
nightmares about this one. :-)
But that's just me...

Correct.
