There are two aspects to this:
* jBoss as such is neither. It has an architecture that allows both.
* The currently available caching mechanisms use pessimistic locking.
So, there is nothing to stop us/anyone from implementing a cache plugin
that uses optimistic locking scheme, but this has not yet been done.
