I included the changes in theoriginal mail, but....
This has been solved with help from Peter Jasko. My database url was
incorrect.. (doh!)
it was:
jdbc:sybase:tds:......
it should be
jdbc:sybaseTds:.....
i.e. Tds not tds. Sybase users beware.....
