We aren't using PostgreSQL, we're using mySQL but we experienced a similar
problem.  The need to find workaround drove us to hacking it with
integers.  Our get/set methods take in/return booleans then assign to a
numeric field 0 or 1.  This was a viable workaround which doesn't affect
the interface and will work until our test engineers have time to find a
real solution.
