Incorrect. Class.forName(driver) loads the class and executes the
static initializer which registers it with the driver manager.
Oracle's drivers (at least v1.1.1) work in this fashion - I don't know
about 2.01.

All this has been changing recently. I suggest you download the latest
CVS, set up a minerva pool for oracle and use that. Your other option,
I think, is to remove all other data sources so that your oracle one
is the default.
