Yes, so it seems ;-)

I'm using jBoss beta prod 2 under jdk1.3 on NT and I've tried to follow the
path(s) that you've outlined... and I found a few "issues" (listed below).

1) One stupid gotcha...
run.bat has changed between beta prod 2 and beta prod 3... In beta prod 3
you have to add ..\lib\jdbc2_0-stdext.jar;..\lib\jboss-jaas.jar in
additition to ..\conf to your classpath.

1) The reference to the new auth-module in conf\jboss.properties seems
strange:
(file: conf\jboss.properties)
<snip>
java.security.auth.login.config==../conf/auth.conf

Why ../conf/...?

2) How do I specify different deploy directories (assuming that I don't want
to use the JMX web-interface for deployment)?
If I start two instances of jBoss they'll both scan the same deploy
directory. I think that the deploy directory should be configurable. (now
the second instance that tries to deploy a jar will fail because of the
hardcode 4444 ServerSocket issue...)

3) How do I specify different ports for jnp, assuming that I have my
configuration in a directory <JBOSS_HOME>\jx? I start jBoss with ..\jx
placed first in my classpath.
It seems like the jBoss code JNP first tries to load jnp.properties from the
conf directory.

I MIGHT HAVE FOUND THE EVIL ONE: From the manifest file in run.jar:
Class-Path: ../lib/jmxri.jar ../conf/ ../client/jboss-client.jar
../lib/xml.jar ../lib/jaas.jar

I guess that the JNP server gets its configuration file from the
classloader, then ../conf then will be placed before ..\jx <grrr>

I agree... but first someone with write access to the CVS should fix the
issues outlined above;-)
