I think "broken" is a bit strong. It does work just fine if you are not
making changes to the deployment descriptors. Most of our time is spent
re-coding the EJB class of our beans (as opposed to the home or remote
interfaces) and repetitive re-deployment so long as there aren't any
failures or changes to the descriptor work very well.
I just don't want people to be unnecessarily stopping and restarting jboss
in their code/test cycles. Auto deploy is one of the most developer
friendly features of jboss and I'd hate for people to not try to take
advantage of it. You just need to remember that if things start getting
too weird, always try restarting jboss at that point.
