I cannot comment on performance in jBoss environment, but
I can say following things about our currently-legacy-jdbc-system:
We have had repeatable java vm crashes (1.2.2 or 1.3) with Oracle 8.1.6
OCI
driver, so I woudn't recommend it unless database you are connecting
to is so old that the thin driver does not support it. The OCI driver
used to be a little bit faster (at least for our applications - time
series
measurement data processing) but that was in JDK 1.1 era. We
are currently installing all new systems with thin driver.
