Its been a known problem for quite some time that Sun's tar utility is not
compatible with files created with GNU tar. For this reason I have downloaded
and installed GNU zip and GNU tar on our Sun box so I don't have these
problems. I basically use the GNU versions all the time on our Sun server now
because the GNU versions work fine on files created with the Sun tar utility.
