Greg,

yes we used HTTP/1.1 in our tests, which is the default. Neverless, the tool allows to
change it to HTTP/1.0 if you like.

The Web Application Stresstool is Version 1.1.293.1 you can find it, and further
information about it, at http://webtool.rte.microsoft.com

I will retest Jetty if a new release is available. Now i am concentrating on a test of
Orionserver 1.3.8 to get a little more complete picture.

We are supporting big firms, which only buy brand names like IBM WebSphere, BEA
WebLogic, Netscape iPlanet but we search for a low cost solution too. Performance is
realy a big issue for every installation. If one can't deliver a responsive System, he
or she never gets a chance to get a satisfied customer.

So, for our purpose we have to make some tests, to see what we get for our additional
bucks. And our tests can only consider software, which is available, and so could be a
.0 :)

Stefan,

Do you know if the MS Web Application Stress Tool uses HTTP/1.1
or not?

Jetty should outperform Tomcat for dynamic content as it uses
chunked HTTP/1.1 connections, which allow persistent connections
to be used when the content-length of a response in not know.

If Http/1.0 connections are used - more stress is caused on the
server, but the throughput is lower.

Finally, we don't like those numbers, no matter how they were
generated. After we get our .0.0 release out in the next
few weeks, performance will be our top priority (you were
comparing a .0 with a .2 :-)

cheers
