|
|Hi,
|
|We have taken up an awful lot of bandwidth on both the jboss developer and
|user lists discussing these licensing issues. I would like to propose that
|general "philosophy" discussions be moved to a different list, and that
|specific questions by a contributor to or a distributor of jboss
|be sent to the
|board at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
|
|Of course, I recognize that this suggestion may be met with criticism. The
|jboss-dev and jboss-user mailing lists are unmoderated, and if anyone
|disagrees with me they may--of course--continue to post license
|discussions to these lists. There is no need to flame me; please
|just ignore
|me. :-)
|
|However, I have taken the liberty of starting an open-subscription egroups
|mailing list, called jbosslicense. You can subscribe at jbosslicense-
|[EMAIL PROTECTED] I suspect that announcements of license
|changes and the like would continue to be made on jboss-dev and jboss-
|user.
|
|Those who feel that the "broader jboss community" needs to be warned
|about the implications of the jboss license can probably rest assured that
|the issue has gotten a good airing, and that interested participants will
|move over to jbosslicense with them.
|
|This is not meant to demean the importance of this licensing discussion.
|People who intend to distribute jboss naturally will have a keen interest,
|and probably appreciate the comments from all points of view. This
|is just a
|suggestion that seems to me to make sense, considering the continuing
|high volume of traffic related to this discussion.
