Ciao,

I'll have to agree with Scot here. I have been
impressed with the knowledge and response to my
queries. I have not always gotten the answers in the
way I thought I would/should, but there have always
been very helpful people on the list and I always get
my answer.

Another big strength here is source code. You may not
be a source code kind of guy, but I think it is very
good to have. Will BEA or IBM send you there source?
Ha! If so, for how much? And if in a pipe dream they
did send it, would licensing permit you to change it
and ship the fixes/enhancements? Hee, hee, hee!

I don't want to lose the point of this thread however.
A 20% difference over WL is awesome. As we say in the
US: "never look a gift horse in the mouth." But if you
do, there's a lot to be impressed by this "gift horse"
cuz it could win the derby! Not to mention that you
can redeploy changes to your EJBs in development about
10:1 over WL. Hmmmm.

Question Darius: Could the 20% difference be due to WL
overhead in authentication and method invocation
authorization that perhaps jboss is not doing? Could
you help our man Edward with is security woes? I know
WL security but not jboss, yet.

Vaughn

But don't forget that a company could come along, just
as Lutris did
for
Enhydra, that charges a reasonable fee for support and
other services.

As far as the documentation, just because Weblogic and
Websphere has
more, doesn't mean it is any better! I have struggled
through the
thousands of pages of documentation for both of those
products. I'll
take jBoss and this mail list over both of them any
day!!

As far as getting questions answered, I agree that
sometimes there is
not
a timely response. But then again, I have worked for
companies that
have
paid thousands of dollars for support and have
received poorer support
than I get on this mailing list. Hopfully someone
will answer your
question soon (I'm not a security expert).

Scot.
