LOL
|The other "problem" with CMP and I think this applies to 1.1 and
|2.0 is that
|it encourages people to map their entity classes 1:1 to their EJB entities
|(I know as it's what we did initially because it appears to be the easiest
|approach). This is bad because the EJB model is a coarse-grained component
|model, individual EJB instances (especially EJB entities) have a
|significant
|memory and processor overhead.
no no no ... the problem is that you guys do persistence on silly little
disks with mechanical parts
("what? what do you mean they don't have Flash Memory Databases yet...")....
but seriously now... EJB2.0 IS a step in the right direction and yes, ejb1.1
was simplistic

|The final, not problem, but limitation of CMP is that you should definately
|*not* access the underlying database from outside of EJB-land, and
|you can't
|integrate with legacy databases.
|
|Hope this helps.

|Thanks for everyone's input on the Small App vs. Large App question. I got
|some good info. There's no need to continue bothering the list with it.
|
|I do now have a question about CMP vs BMP. This may not be the right place
|to ask this question. If not, please direct me to another list or Web site
|resource...
|
|In the Sun training I did for J2EE they were claiming that CMP was really
|great (obviously - they worked for Sun!).
|
|I get the impression from y'all that it's not all it's cracked up to be...
|Why is this? What's wrong with it?
|
|It seems like a benefit. Does it not work well?
