Hi,
JEOPS was mentioned in the Brock list a while ago as comparing to Jess
as the rule engine for Brock's personalization engine. We have modified
the original JEOPS and use it in our Enhydra projects. The result was
pretty good. JEOPS works well with Enhydra.
Of course, there are a lot of improvements can be done with JEOPS to
make better use of it's core rule engine. The original author moved to
the US and doesn't really maintain the package any more. I have a couple
emails exchanges with Carlos about futher development of JEOPS.
I finally get arround to set up the sourceforge project for JEOPS. I
uploaded the original (with slight modification to make it work with
Enhydra). I think there are a lot of improvement to be done on this.
Here is my short list:
1. Better parser. The parser included is good but doesn't have much
error reporting capacity. I am planning on rewriting it using ANTLR.
2. Scripting plug in. I am planning on extended the rules to support
Scripting engine.
3. Integration with Knowledge acqusition tools like Protege2000 to make
it easier to define the knowledge base.
