I had the same problem and it came down to that fact that I was using a 
non-serializable argument as a parameter of my create function.  If you 
notice however jBoss gives this only a warning.  According to the EJB1.1 
spec EJBs must be able to work over RMI/IIOP which means any data sent 
between the client and the server must be serializable.  Since jBoss 
doesn't use IIOP this is not an issue and your been will work fine, at 
least mine does.  It does mean however that your bean won't be portable to 
another container that use IIOP as a form of communication.  So basically 
you can keep it as is and not worry about it unless the need arises to move 
it to another container, or change your parameter.
