Okay, I finally resolved this myself. After playing with database metadata to try and determine what tables where available, it appeared I was connecting to the Hypersonic database instead of my constructnet database (something to do with defaultDS maybe???). I disabled all entries for hypersonic and instantdb. I then found that my jndi name of jdbc/ConstructNET seemed to cause problems, specifically the "/". I am still not quite sure of how I fixed it, but I made the res-name and the res-jndi-name both "constructnetdb". Finally got it running...
